Lisa Olinger is a graduate of North Side High School and received her bachelor's degree in education from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Her student teaching was completed at Weisser Park Elementary School.

After receiving her Indiana State Teaching License, she taught with the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend as a computer teacher and and later as the Technology Coordinator for the Diocesan schools, serving 44 schools and the administrative offices.

As an adjunct faculty member at the University of Saint Francis, Ms. Olinger worked with teachers in developing curricular connections for implementing technology in the classroom as a tool rather than a lab situation as an additional class. She developed courses for undergraduate programs and for graduate level credit for license renewal.

For the last decade she has worked as an independent contractor working with districts across the country to implement technology throughout the fabric of the curriculum. In the course of these activities, Ms. Olinger has presented at numerous educational conferences, such as New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education, Technology and Learning, Florida Education Technology Conference, International Society for Technology in Education, Texas Computer Education Association and National School Boards Association. She organized training sessions for the National Education Association and technology companies with an interest in education.

Ms. Olinger serves on the FWCS board because, "I believe that parents are a student's first and most important teacher. Everyone else is part of the team. Fort Wayne Community Schools needs to provide an excellent standard of education for every student. Education in FWCS will be provided by well-trained, professional teachers. It is in the best interest of the community to have vibrant public schools. Public schools educate children from a variety of backgrounds and assure that education is available to everyone. Education must be provided by the spirit, methods and discipline of a free society."

Ms. Olinger and her husband, Jon, have two children who attended Fort Wayne Community Schools. They have been band parents, PTA members and Girl Scout Leaders. They support FWCS in any way they can.
