Overview

CNA's are in demand - if you have a passion for people and a desire to help them, then this may be the opportunity you have been looking for. The Certified Nurse Aide Training Program is a state mandated curriculum that requires 30 classroom hours and 75 hours of clinical instruction in a long-term care facility. Successful completion allows the student to take the state certification exam which leads to the CNA certificate. Students also gain knowledge in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and human behavior, as well as direct patient care skills. Class size is small to provide quality instruction and individual attention. 100% attendance is required.

Program Information

The program is in two parts:

30 hours of classroom instruction at Anthis Career Center, followed by 75 hours of clinical instruction at a long-term care facility. The certification test will be scheduled within one month of completion of clinical training. Class fee: $800 includes CPR training and certification. Some program requirements entail additional cost to the student, including final certification test fee ($75), Indiana State criminal history check, tuberculosis test/readings, and general physical examination. Details provided at registration. Approximate additional required out of pocket cost to student: $100-$150.

General requirements to qualify for the program:

You must meet the minimal requirements set forth in the ISDH Administrative Standards. You must be able to: add and subtract simple equations; must be able to read and write, speak and understand English. You will need to pass with at least 80% correct on competency evaluation test that is given at the Neighborhood Connection office prior to qualifying for registration. Neighborhood Connection does not provide transportation; therefore you must have reliable transportation to and from Anthis and/or the Nursing Facility. If any of the stipulations are a concern, please consider resolving them and registering for the program at a later date. It is encouraged, but not required, that you be a high school graduate, or have your GED.

Getting Started:

Contact Neighborhood Connection to schedule a time to take the competency evaluation test. Upon passing, you will be able to register for the program. Please note that you may register with a down payment of $400 with registration into the program. The balance must be paid no later than one month before the program begins. Registration in person is required. Neighborhood Connection is unable to provide financial assistance.
