Washington Elementary’s Rotary EarlyAct Club kicks off a new service project at 8:30 a.m. Students will meet in the gymnasium to learn more about the Our Turn to Serve (OTTS) project, which supports the training of service dogs to assist veterans with post-traumatic stress syndrome, A local company will contribute $1,000 to OTTS in the name of Washington Elementary if the students commit to doing 22 repetitions of an exercise every day for 22 days. The significance of “22” is it represents the number of veteran suicides that happen every day.

Haley Elementary will participate in Every Kid Healthy Week, an annual observance created to share the great efforts schools are making to improve the health and wellness of students and the link between nutrition, physical activity and learning because healthy kids are better prepared to learn. From April 22- 26 Haley will provide students the opportunity to try a new fruit or vegetable each day of the week.
